It’s the only way to time travel

At this time of year we go through the usual stushie over changing our clocks.

Rather than changing our clocks twice a year we should instead just keep to the time zone we live in – GMT – all year round. Forget the arguments over the need for lighter mornings or evenings or whether it saves energy. We need to stop “chasing the dream”. Time is an artificial construct, it’s whatever we say it is. We needed to make it easier to tell the time to help navigate the seas – is it still needed now?

Why should we change our clocks in the UK to make it easier for business to contact other businesses on the continent? What happens when they have to contact firms in India, China, or the US? They make adjustments as to how they contact each other.

Keeping to our time zones and ignoring ‘daylight savings’ enables us to celebrate the diversity of life. Travelling across continental Europe means changing your watch, adjusting to different time zones, celebrating diversity not conformity. The USA manages with 3 time zones, why can’t Europe.

Remember, getting rid of ‘daylight savings’ and keeping to your time zone means you travel through time. Go East and you can catch up, go West and you can gain time. It’s the closest you’ll get to the Tardis!
