SuperBadger is an application for Facebook, developed by TearFund, and enables users to send emails direct from your Facebook Profile to the people who make decisions.
It could be ‘badgering’ politicians about climate change or supermarkets to stock more Fairtrade products.
There are a couple of things you need to be aware of using this or any other ‘cyberaction’ tools (Oxfam’s Take Action page, Friends of The Earth Scotland for example). Always include your own name and email address. Change the subject line – if you just stick with the suggested one it will be marked by the recipient as spam or generic and may be ignored. Check the content of the email and personalise it. Some that I’ve done have been to ‘strident’ or ‘aggressive’ in tone. I’ve edited those ones to be more respectful.
If writing to your specific MP, MSP etc ensure you include your home address so they know you are a constituent. And don’t send the same email from the same email account on the same subject using different cyberaction tools. That will just turn the recipients off.
Superbadger includes a few lines at the bottom of the message that signifies you’ve used this application – delete them.
