Things haven’t moved on at local party level like I’d hoped. Some of it may be my fault, perhaps I haven’t explained “my vision” properly. Like every post election period I can remember the local party goes into hibernation. Nothing is done!
The selection process for the East Lothian Holyrood seat proceeds but incorrectly – you don’t issue ballot papers before a hustings but after! The selection for the South of Scotland Region proceeds properly – because I’m doing it!
I’ve still to confirm to the rest of the committee that I’m not carrying on after the AGM, I’ll do that next week. I won’t be a committee member at all locally. I made a mistake in accepting the post last year, I shouldn’t have done. Its not something I’m cut out for – you need to be a “people person” to do it properly. I work better as a member of a team with a clearly defined role. I can’t lead or cajole others. I don’t have the skills for that.
