Small Grant Scheme to Help Promote Fairtrade in East Lothian

East Lothian Council will be administering a Small Grant Scheme which is aimed at community groups and organisations within the County (except Musselburgh) that want to promote Fairtrade.

The scheme is open now and will run until March 2012 (or sooner if the fund runs out). The maximum grant is £150 and is available to help fund a specific activity or event. Any group can apply more than once if they aim to run more than one event. Events do not need to be tied in to Fairtrade Fortnight, which takes place between 28th February and 13th March this year. They can be held at any time of year.

Any group applying should be trying to get press coverage for their event (and will have to acknowledge the funding source in any literature). Photographs can be taken and passed on to Fairtrade East Lothian on Facebook. Your event can be advertised there too.

The funds can be used for venue hire, promotion of the event, purchasing samples and goods, transport costs, volunteer expenses among other things. The funds are not available in Musselburgh as the town is not “rural” enough for the funding source. Any group in Musselburgh has to contact the Council direct to discuss.

If you want more information please send an email to economicdevelopment@eastlothian.gov.uk or telephone 01620 827282

Update: All the application forms are now on the Council web-site. http://fb.me/RDuQmVsa
