Vaccines, Armed Conflict and Charity

The news has been filled over the last couple of days regarding the Coalition Governments commitment to spend billions to help vaccinate children.

But the news has also been filled with moaners who complain that charity begins at home and the money would be better spent here in the UK because aid doesn’t work.

Are these the same moaners who are quite happy to spend billions of pounds in an armed conflict in Afghanistan – something I’ve never understood – or the millions (so far) spent on armed conflict in Libya (while we ignore what is going in in Syria)?

After clean drinking water, vaccines have saved more human lives that any other public health intervention. I’m glad our Coalition Government has committed £814 million pounds of our money to help vaccinate children.
