Need For Speed?

The UK Government recently announced proposals to increase the speed limit on enhanced dual carriageways and motorways to 80 miles per hour. The proposal is allegedly based on making it quicker to move goods around the country.

The need for speed: accidents at higher speeds are more dangerous and will lead to more death and destruction.

The need for speed: who is going to pay for speed limiters on HGV’s and coaches to be increased.

The need for speed: it’s a fact that the faster you drive the more fuel you use. The “greenest government ever!”

Speed limits need to be reduced to 90 kmh or 56 mph for fuel efficiency. That speed limit will also be safer (comparatively). When the Scottish Executive gains control of these speed limits here’s hoping they’ll reduce speed limits not increase them.
