It’s conference week-end and I’m not there

Scottish Liberal Democrats are gathering in Inverness today for their annual spring conference and AGM. Normally I’d be there to supervise the party member who volunteer to “steward” the conference. However, in an agreed change my role has been done away with. So, for the 1st time in 10 years I’m not there.

I could have gone by paying a normal registration fee, accommodation costs, transport costs, food and drink and missed out on the subsistence money. But the thought of spending time in the debating hall getting “bored”, sitting in the cafe, mooching round fringe events didn’t appeal.

Instead, in 10 days time I’ll be spending less money on a 3 day mini-break in York than I would spend on being in Inverness. I know which one will be more enjoyable and money well spent.

Hope everyone going to conference enjoys themselves.
