A week ago today when it was rainy – a bit like today actually, I attended a meeting of Shared Interest at the beautiful Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
This was a chance for members, supporters, investors, whatever we like to call ourselves to find out more about the work of Shared Interest. Their AGM was held recently in Oxford which is a bit far for those from northern climes to go for a one day event so most of the morning felt like an AGM but, without the formal business bits.
There was a talk from Martin Rhodes, Director of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum who updated us all on the progress being made to self-declare Scotland as a Fair Trade Nation, something likely to happen by the end of this year. There were a few updates on where Shared Interest are with lending, investor/members etc interspersed with some films about their work. All-in-all an enjoyable morning.
Oh, I hear you cry why the title? Well after the “business” we were treated to a buffet lunch along with a coffee tasting treat by Equal Exchange. Unfortunately the coffee on offer was a “blend” of beans, it was OK but not to my taste, I’m more of a single bean (malt) person myself.

Are you a blend or a single malt?
