Will East Lothian Council repair the damage?

East Lothian Council‘s Landscape and Countryside Department have recently been removing trees from the Lodge Grounds in North Berwick. To enable them to do this they’ve been driving normal road vehicles around the foot path, a path that is narrower than the vehicles. Accordingly they’ve churned up the verges of the path, creating a mess for users of the footpath, narrowing the width for people to pass each other (see pictures below).

While the ground is still soft it would be quite easy for this muck to be scooped up. However, with the temperature due to drop these soft verges will harden and be difficult to tidy up. If this Department are going to continue to use normal sized road vehicles around the Lodge Grounds they should consider widening the footpath. This can be done quite simply by cutting a new verge round the path using their vehicle marks as a guide.
