Reading the leader section of a newspaper today I was a wee bit annoyed at the suggestion that the Scottish Liberal Democrats need to declare it’s independence from London (Scotsman Leader).
The paper doesn’t seem to understand that the Scottish Liberal Democrats are an independent party within a Federal set up. I am a member of that party. I am NOT a member of the Liberal Democrat party.
The Liberal Democrats is the name given to the federal structure that comprises the Scottish, Welsh and English state parties. Various powers are passed up and down within our Federal structure. However, I do wish that fellow Scottish party members would remember to emphasise they are members of a Scottish party.
