The Scottish Liberal Democrats are urging the public sector and major retailers to support Scottish farmers by insisting on British welfare standards for the eggs that they buy.
I am immensely relieved that sense has prevailed. The Scottish Government should now quickly confirm they will fund the St Andrews Square scheme so that we can crack on with construction. Any further delays will just rack up the price even higher.
Not all Forestry Commission land is suitable for planting trees. It makes sense for it to be used to help new-entrant farmers. I have met too many prospective farmers who are struggling to get access to farm tenancies at the moment.
Speaking in response to news that the sister of Holyrood Presiding Officer Tricia Marick has died in a house fire, the Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats and former Dunfermline MP Willie Rennie said:
“This is so sad. My thoughts are with Tricia and her family. I am sure the whole Parliament will be thinking of her today.”
Given the real problems in the way the NHS is able to deliver ministers’ election promises it is astonishing that ministers have chosen to bypass the health boards who serve a third of Scots this year.
The Scottish Government decision to reject the Haymarket option is the right call. Sense seems to be breaking out all round. I hope all parties on the council will now back the profitable St. Andrews Square scheme.
